Q: A Protestant friend told me that we shouldn’t have crucifixes, but bare crosses, because we are to worship Jesus risen, not Jesus crucified, and because He is no longer on the cross. What do you think of this argument?A. When I look at a crucifix, I am reminded of what Jesus went through for me. It is humbling, and makes me think about the unconditional love He has for us. Jesus risen is a wonderful thing to reflect on, and I agree that it is very important to us as Christians, but I think that the crucifix holds a special meaning too. Therefore it is not wrong for us to have crucifixes.
